"Cardiff and Vale County Schools continually commits to and promotes the high standards we set as teachers and coaches in our schools. We look to encourage the mental, moral and physical development of our pupils through the medium of Association Football.

We emphasise an ethos which encourages discipline as well as enthusiasm in play, and a healthy respect for opponents. We work closely with our partner schools so that boys and girls can gain a sense of pride and achievement in representing their school, county and country."

ABOUT US

Cardiff & Vale County Schools Football Association is an association managed by teachers and supported by primary and secondary schools in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.

The Cardiff & Vale County FA was formed on June 12th 1896 and was a founder member of both the Welsh (1904) and the English (1911) Schools’ Associations. The Association covers the area of  Cardiff, Barry, Penarth, Llantwit Major and Cowbridge and thus almost the whole of South Glamorgan. The Association oversees Primary and Secondary Schools’ league competitions, a number of knockout cup tournaments, Inter and Intra schools festivals as well as providing teaching resources. From the 2016/17 season we now have a football development officer who’s role is to develop football further in our schools and provide opportunities for all players keen on embracing the game.

The first Cardiff & Vale Boys Age Groups representative side to be formed was the Under 15 team (1906), followed by the Under 11 team (1953), the Under 13 team (1965), the Under 14 team (1983),  the Under 12, U14 & U16 team (1991). As of the 2022/23 Season,
we run U7-U18 Boys Age Groups.

Each representative team competes in a variety of league and cup competitions organised by the Welsh Schools’ Football Association (WSFA), as well as the prestigious English Schools FA (ESFA) Inter County Competitions and playing friendly matches against other districts or development centres or professional academies.

We have recently developed our Girls Age Groups representative sides. In 2011 we had our first U16 Girls rep team. Our Girls Age Groups also competes in both WSFA & ESFA competitions.

As of the 2022/23 Season, we run U9-U16 Girls Age Groups.

Players recommended by their schools are chosen, via trials, to join these teams. Players selected for our County teams at trials will have the opportunity to represent their School, their County, and their Country as part of the WSFA Player Pathway.

Opportunities arise for players playing in our teams to be recommended for Regional & National honours, with games regularly watched by the national selectors. Additionally, games are frequently visited by Talent Identification scouts, with several of our alumni progressing into the professional game.

This website will give you instant access to Inter Schools & County fixtures & match/training info and much more.
